Wednesday really got things into high gear in KC. We got a start to the day by going to Crown Center for some breakfast and returned to the hotel to get ready for the competition. By 10:00, we were back at Bartle Hall and waiting for the Internetworking to start. As it turned out, there were some delays and the competition ended at 3:30 for Candon's group. The competition consisted of a hands-on router and switch configuration exercise that took the bulk of the time, two Packet Tracer troubleshooting files, and an online exam based on CCNA questions.
While the competition was going on, I tried to get around and get pictures of as much stuff as possible to show the range of events going on. Many of the contests had at least part of their competition start today, so Internetworking was not alone.
After the competition, we took a bus down to the "Country Club" plaza district to walk around and see the sights. It was finally getting pretty hot and uncomfortable, but we got relief by stopping for some pizza (no bbq this time). Unfortunately, on the return trip to Bartle Hall, it turned out we stayed too late and the buses were all taking people to Kemper Arena for opening ceremonies (yes, on Wednesday - odd). We were able to jump buses to the one we needed over at Bartle with the generous help of the staff helpers who were still at BH.
After we got back to change for the ceremonies, we dashed off again to get to Kemper Arena. The crowd was pretty big and there were some unexpected strange and colorful things that happened during the ceremony, especially in terms of some of the speakers. That's a whole 'nuther story!
That pretty much was it for the day after that was done. Tomorrow, the major portion of the Internetworking competition will run from 8:00 to 4:00. Many other competitions will also run similar schedules. I don't imagine there will be much else other than that to report on for Thursday.
